Things to Consider

Starting October 1, 2022, the following gateways are being put into effect industry-wide for messaging sent over toll-free numbers that are unverified.

Daily Limit: 2,000 messages per day

Weekly limit: 12,000 messages per week

Monthly limit: 25,000 messages per month

Additionally, beginning October 1st, verification will be essential for all toll-free numbers while sending calls to Canada, regardless of the volume of traffic being sent. Any unverified traffic sent to Canadian telephone numbers will be blocked.

what you need to know

Once a toll-free number has been submitted for verification and is ‘pending’ state, the messaging gateways to the U.S. and unblocks to Canadian long codes.

If traffic is blocked because the number is unverified, it will return with the error code 795 or 4795: tfn-not-verified.

What you need to do

If you have unverified toll-free numbers that send messaging traffic over the new limits or send traffic to Canadian TNs, you need to submit the numbers for verification as soon as possible and before October 1, 2022. If you have a large inventory of numbers, please be attentive in submitting the toll-free numbers that send the most traffic and numbers sending traffic to Canadian long codes.
